Readers of all ages have enjoyed James Whitcomb Riley’s poems for decades. “Little Orphant Annie” remains one of the most popular. Written in 1885 and originally titled “The Elf Child,” the poem was inspired by a young orphan girl who lived in Riley’s childhood home.

The video clip below features the poem retold by Hal Rayle.
