Top 5 Ideas
Countless creative opportunities exist to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children. Whether students are conducting a fundraising competition with another school or a school-wide walk-a-thon, they’re finding creative ways to be engaged with this wonderful program. Here are just a few ideas for your school.
1. Have a Heart for Riley. Show Your Riley Spirit.
Make colorful heart, hand or school mascot paper icons or order free Riley red wagon, Indianapolis Colts-themed or basketball icons to sell. Create a visual display with the icons in classrooms, hallways or the school cafeteria and include a sign reading: “We Have a Heart for Riley.” A twist on this idea is for students and staff to purchase Riley hearts for friends, teachers and staff at school and have them delivered on Valentine’s Day. Free hearts are available online.
2. Bucket Collection during a Sporting Event
Every school has sporting events. It’s the perfect time to have students collect donations at the door or pass buckets through the crowd during halftime. Free buckets are available online.
3. Walk-a-Thon
Students collect and raise pledges for the number of laps or miles they walk, or they can simply collect flat donations for their participation. Not only are you raising money to help Riley Hospital, but you’re promoting exercise and healthy life choices as well as helping your students release a little energy in their day. You can create your own pledge forms or use ours.
4. Jar Wars
Who can collect the most money for Riley in a given time frame? Students collect pennies and dollar bills, which count as positive points, as they sabotage other classrooms with silver coins and dollar bills, counting as negative points. Whoever has the most money points after the specific time wins. The kids at Riley win too!
5. Make A Riley Video
Interview and film students like Hannah Morton at your school that have been patients at Riley Hospital. You can ask them to share their memories of Riley and then debut the video at a special school convocation or share during school announcements.
