Riley Cancer Center Prom

The inaugural Riley Cancer Center Prom made its debut this past spring at Fairbanks Hall in Indianapolis. The event, organized by Women for Riley, Riley Children’s Foundation and the Riley Cancer Center, will become an annual tradition for pediatric cancer patients treated at Riley Hospital for Children.
Riley patients, family members, friends and staff had the opportunity to join together for an enchanted evening in celebration of life. The magic-themed event featured face painting, a magician, music, dancing, fun photo opportunities, food and more - all making for an unforgettable evening. The night was completed with the chance for attendees to see their favorite staff members crowned king and queen.
The magical décor included Harry Potter inspired touches, complete with characters from the popular children’s books making appearances. Inpatients arrived at prom in fashion via “Hogwarts Express” - the monorail that serves as transportation from Riley Hospital to IUPUI’s campus.
Before the dance, families enjoyed full treatment in preparation for the prom. Indianapolis-area stylists donated their services for manicures, makeup, massages and pampering from head to toe.
Weeks before the main event, Promingdales proved to be a successful launch for the Riley Cancer Center Prom. Girls and boys of all ages had the opportunity to pick out complimentary prom attire with the help of personal shoppers. More than 1,000 dresses and suits were donated as well as hundreds of shoes, purses and accessories.
