Riley Cancer Center Prom

The 2011 Riley Cancer Center Prom returned this year to Fairbanks Hall in Indianapolis. The event, organized by Women for Riley, Riley Children’s Foundation and the Riley Cancer Center, has become an annual tradition for pediatric cancer patients treated at Riley Hospital for Children.

Riley patients, family members, friends and staff had the opportunity to join together for an enchanted evening in celebration of life. The theme for the evening was “Wonderland” and featured face painting, music, dancing, fun photo opportunities, food and more - all making for an unforgettable evening. The night was completed with the chance for attendees to see their favorite staff members crowned king and queen by 2009 Miss America Katie Stam.

The décor included Alice In Wonderland inspired touches, complete with characters from the popular children’s book making appearances including Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts.

Before the dance, families enjoyed full treatment in preparation for the prom. Indianapolis-area stylists donated their services for manicures, makeup, massages and pampering from head to toe.

Weeks before the main event, Promingdales proved to be a successful launch for the Riley Cancer Center Prom. Girls and boys of all ages had the opportunity to pick out complimentary prom attire with the help of personal shoppers. More than 1,000 dresses and suits were donated as well as hundreds of shoes, purses and accessories.
