Celebrities Dance Their Way to Critical Funding for Riley Hospital

Global Health Systems Foundation has teamed up with local Indiana ballroom studios to present Reason to Dance, Reason for Hope at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on Friday, March 11, 6:00-11:00 p.m.  The evening includes a silent auction, 3-course dinner, and the ballroom competition. This year, Riley Champion Bradee Wilzbacher will perform her solo dance routine. The evening will conclude with open dancing. The evening will also include special performances from some of the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders, Chris Spalding & Kelly Bartlett master instructors & owners of Dance Tonight Fort Wayne, Kathleen Ilo & Jonas Kazlauskaus Professional World 10-Dance Championship Finalists, and the Indianapolis Ballet.

Reason to Dance, Reason to Hope is a ballroom dance competition modeled after the popular "Dancing with the Stars" television show. Eight local “celebrities” will be paired with professional dance instructors to learn and refine one ballroom dance routine and one freestyle routine. The celebrities will then compete at an elegant gala, being held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, to win one of several awards. Three judges will score the performances. All profits for this event will benefit Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, located in Indianapolis, IN.

A highlight of this event is the Riley Children's Choice Award.  Celebrities record a special dance performance that is shown to the patients at Riley who then vote for their favorite celebrity dancers. The winner will be announced at the event.

Proceeds from the event support Child Life and Research at Riley Hospital for Children, two departments that rely on critical funding through philanthropy. Last year, the inaugural Reason to Dance, Reason for Hope raised $30,000.00.

Riley Children’s Foundation offers hope to families seeking help for seriously ill and injured children; help that only Riley Hospital for Children can provide. Every gift makes an impact. Without external financial support, the dedicated medical team at Riley Hospital could not deliver expert and compassionate care and breakthrough pediatric research. Generous donors also allow Riley Hospital to provide cutting-edge facilities to cover the costs of medical specialty areas that are not self-sustaining. RileyKids.org
