Riley Kids receive direct proceeds from Children's Miracle Network Torch Relay

The Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015. It will take place in 19 cities this fall, consisting of local run/walk events that are held to raise funds for the CMN Hospitals in each community.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held at the State Museum Lawn at White River State Park, and has a fundraising goal of $15,000. Last year’s event brought out 95 participants and raised $10,355. Money raised goes directly to Riley Hospital for Children to support pediatric cancer research. Each year, the Torch Relay strives to raise over $1 million nationwide to donate to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Riley Hospital for Children is the only CMN Hospital in the state of Indiana.

There will be a silent auction open before and after the event, and food for all participants.

This is family event and strollers are welcome. The course travels through White River State Park and the Canal Walk, and is not a timed event. Teams and individuals can register at RileyKids.org/Torch.

Media are invited to interview current and former Riley patients and participants.

About Torch Relay
The Torch Relay for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a unique multi-day event where participants can walk or run a segment of The Torch Relay at events throughout the country to raise money for their local CMN Hospital. The Torch Relay began in 2002 as a continuous relay starting in Miami, Florida and ending in Orlando, Florida. In 2003, the event was expanded to include northern Florida and Georgia. The first coast-to-coast Relay was held in 2005 and has raised over $10 million dollars for children's hospitals nationwide. The Torch Relay is an all-volunteer organization that is supported by generous corporate sponsors, and participant funds benefit the local CMN Hospital in the city where they were raised.
