Riley Maternity and Newborn Health program taking shape

Riley Hospital for Children is answering the call from the State of Indiana to reduce Indiana’s alarming infant mortality rate (currently the 10th highest in the nation).  Thanks to gifts from donors, the new Riley Maternity and Newborn Health program continues to grow and take shape.

Seven maternal-fetal medicine specialists are now seeing mothers with high-risk pregnancies, thanks to Riley Children’s Foundation donor support. “Without gifts from donors, we would not be able to make changes this significant for mothers and babies in our state,” says Riley Neonatologist David Boyle, M.D., who has been named Medical Director of Riley Maternity and Newborn Health. “We are grateful for everyone who stands behind this effort.”

Jeff Peipert has also joined the team as the new chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology for IU School of Medicine, and Jennifer Weida, M.D., has been named assistant director of the Fetal Center.
