Bailey created this Thanksgiving tree for the 2015 Riley Calendar

I was asked to create artwork representing a Thanksgiving theme for the Riley 2015 Hope in Color Calendar. It was fun because I have so much to be thankful for!

RILEY HOSPITAL STAFF

I am thankful for Riley Hospital for Children and their staff because without them I would not have had the encouragement, the drive, and the hope to be where I am today after breaking my back this past January.

Every day, I am truly thankful for each and every person who came into my room and helped me on my road to recovery from the doctors, nurses, staff, technicians and volunteers who give their time to help me

succeed. They showed me and my family love, compassion, dedication and most of all commitment. They are such an inspiration to me that every day while I continue on my road to recovery, I strive to help others the way they helped me.

CHEERLEADING AND FRIENDSHIP

Two of the "little things" I included on my Thanksgiving tree painting were cheer and friends. Cheerleading has been my life since I was 3 years old. It has been on hold for a year since my accident, but hopefully soon I'll be back!! My friends have helped me with a lot. They complete my personality. I wouldn’t be me without them.

RILEY DONORS

Finally, I'm thankful for the donors to Riley because the hospital gives kids a second chance.

I want to say thank you for all your support. I hope your Thanksgiving is one to remember like mine.

I feel blessed to be able to walk, and to be with my family throughout the holidays.

Bailey Koziol, Riley Kid

Bailey is a 16-year-old high school student from Goshen, Ind. She was treated at Riley Hospital following a cheerleading injury which fractured her vertebrae in January 2014. Bailey hopes to return to competitive cheerleading in the near future. She served as an artist for the 2015 Riley "Hope in Color" Calendar.
