My Riley Intern Experience
When I got the call saying that I had earned the position of Dance Marathon Intern for the spring 2017 semester I was ecstatic. I was eager for the opportunity and excited to further my understanding of Riley Children’s Foundation.
I gained so much more than I had imagined through my time at RCF. Serving as the intern taught me an abundance of professional skills from how to analyze data through excel to the importance of strategic goal setting. I got the chance to tour the Well’s Center for Pediatric Research, participate in a wagon release ceremony, tour Riley Hospital for Children and meet the incredible staff at the foundation. The amount of passion, drive and dedication that each RCF employee possess is truly one of a kind. I was greeted with warm smiles and always felt welcomed and a part of the team.
While serving as the intern I gained confidence in my ability to serve as a leader and developed the skills required to further my leadership within dance marathon. I have since been selected to serve as the President of State Dance Marathon at Indiana State University, and with the tools I have learned in my time at the foundation I am committed to continue to grow my university’s program.
I am so thankful to have received the honor and opportunity to serve as an intern for RCF. This experience has solidified that I made the right decision by pursuing an education in Nonprofit Leadership. I am very excited to see what my future holds!
