Sources of support for Riley

You probably know that donations are a critical source of funding for Riley Hospital.

But did you know where those donations come from?

FOUNDATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS

16% of donations to Riley Children’s Foundation come through other organizations and foundations who support our mission.

Richard L. Cosnotti is the managing trustee for The Anne Goss Foundation, which has made generous gifts to Riley Children’s Foundation in support of Child Life Specialists who serve Riley cancer patients. With so many deserving charities to consider, Mr. Cosnotti explains why The Anne Goss Foundation choses to give to Riley:

“I have been familiar with Riley Hospital for Children since 1988, and what sticks out in my mind is that Riley is the epitome of quiet excellence. Egos don’t get in the way because everyone is united by a single focus: the health and well-being of children. Riley is precisely the kind of organization that The Anne Goss Foundation seeks to support.”

INDIVIDUALS/PLANNED GIVING

Gifts from individuals make up 42 percent of Riley’s annual donations. Half of those individual gifts, or 21% of Riley's total annual contributions, come from donors such as the Keller family of Indianapolis (Madison, Riley, Carson, Jennie, Darren and Dylan, pictured left) who made a gift supporting pediatric cardiology research in honor of Dylan’s Riley journey. Their gift will bring hope to other children coping with heart conditions.

The other half of Riley's gifts from individuals are made as planned gifts. Barbara Woodard from Paragon, Ind., included Riley in her estate plans to honor her great-grandson, Aiden Lipp (pictured bottom center with his mother) who received treatment in the Riley NICU. “The world and Riley would be a much better and more wonderful place if each one of us were to contribute,” says Woodard. “You never know when a child in your family might need Riley, just like our Aiden did.”

CORPORATIONS

Gifts from corporations account for 28 percent of Riley’s philanthropic support. Steven Alonso, President and CEO of Fifth Third Bank, Greater Indiana, explains why they have chosen to partner with Riley:

“Riley Hospital has a national reputation for excellence and is an invaluable resource for not only Indiana but the entire Midwest due to the level of care and expertise it offers patients and families.”

SCHOOLS

Schools raise the remaining 14 percent of Riley Children’s Foundation’s annual funding. College and high school students pour their passion into Riley Dance Marathons “For The Kids,” while other students get behind Riley in a wide variety of creative ways through our Kids Caring and Sharing program.

Read more about the sources of our donations and how they have been put to use in our Riley Children’s Foundation 2014 Annual Report.

We are grateful to these donors and the thousands of other individuals and groups who recognize Riley’s quiet excellence.

Your generosity allows Riley to continue providing hope and healing to children.
