Riley Dance Marathon is a student-run organization that supports Riley Hospital for Children through year-round fundraising efforts. The fundraising culminates in a multi-hour event where students are awake and on their feet to honor the kids we serve. The Riley Dance Marathon program is the largest and highest fundraising Dance Marathon program in the country. In the 2014-2015 school year, 76 Riley Dance Marathons raised more than $5.5 million dollars for Riley Hospital.

Hayden Dietz September 21, 2015

When he was just a few months old, Hayden Dietz, of Fort Wayne, was diagnosed at Riley Hospital for Children with a heart condition called mitral valve regurgitation, which was caused by a congenital heart defect. Hayden has had three open-heart surgeries at Riley, all performed by Riley Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon Mark Turrentine, M.D. Today, Hayden is doing well and continues follow-up appointments with Riley Pediatric Cardiologist Mark Hoyer, M.D. Hayden’s experiences have inspired his family. His grandmother, Valli Dietz, serves on the Northeast Indiana Riley Leadership Committee. Valli and her husband Dave also made a generous gift in support of Riley cardiology research that was combined with a retirement gift from Dave’s employer, Do it Best Hardware. As Valli explains, “If it wasn’t for Riley, Hayden wouldn’t be here.”
