Committees

Riley Cancer Center Prom Committee

  • Work with Riley Hospital Cancer Center and Social Work staff to plan and execute a prom for patients of the Cancer Center, as well as the clothing drive and “Promingdales” shopping experience
  • Responsible for elements of the prom such as food, decorations, entertainment
  • Responsible for clothing drives to collect new and gently used party clothes to stock “Promingdales,” an opportunity for Riley Cancer Center patients to shop for a new outfit free of charge
  • Responsible for “Promingdales” and other day of or “Riley Day Spa” preparations for the patients such as make-up and manicures
  • Work closely with Riley Hospital staff to ensure that all aspects of the events comply with Riley Hospital guidelines for activities involving patients

Riley Kids Event & Education Committee

  • Responsible for the development of activities or events that involve the members with the children of Riley Hospital
  • Works with Riley Hospital Child Life staff to make sure all activities and events involving patients comply with Riley Hospital guidelines
  • Works with Riley Hospital Community Education staff on events or activities that may help Riley reach out into the community for educational purposes, for example, activities that promote bicycle or water safety
  • Responsible for the identification of any other areas of educational interest for the membership and development of materials or activities that address those interests

Nominating Committee

  • Responsible for the nomination of officers
  • This committee will be chaired by the immediate past president

Halloween Howl Fund Raising Event Committee

  • Responsible for working with members of the Riley Women’s Network on the fund raising event, the Halloween Howl, which raises money for the Riley Cancer Center Prom and other Riley Hospital priorities.
  • Specific needs for the Halloween Howl include the Sponsorship Committee, Silent Auction Committee
  • Work with Riley Children’s Foundation staff to coordinate with the Foundation and its activities

Membership Committee

  • Responsible for coordinating the efforts of the membership in the annual recruitment of a new class of approximately 33 members
  • Activities may include: review of membership nominations, hosting membership events, working with Riley staff on tours of the Hospital
  • Goal is a total membership of 100 by the third full year
  • Responsible for development of membership nomination form, development and documentation of membership requirements;

Website Committee

  • Works with Riley Children’s Foundation Communications Department staff to develop Women for Riley website
  • Responsible for regular updates to the Women for Riley website, posting event calendar, minutes, etc.

Grants Committee

  • Works with Riley Children’s Foundation Communications Department staff to develop an enhanced grant procedure, including the grant application form and documentation of the grant process
  • Work with Riley Children’s Foundation staff to solicit grant applications from Riley Hospital or Camp Riley staff
  • Responsible for review of the grants and development of recommendations for funding for the officers and membership

Strategic Discussion Committee

  • Works with Riley Children’s Foundation staff to develop a longer range plan for the development of Women for Riley as an organization
  • Responsible for assessment of the current mission statement, structure, and membership requirements and for development of recommendations for improvement or refinement
  • Responsible for development of an additional types of activity for the group
  • Responsible for the development of a policy for associate or emeritus members
