Meeting Notes
Sally McGuffey opened the meeting by announcing that for family reasons Kelly Huguenard would be stepping down and Julie Eskenazi will be taking over.
Julie mentioned that we really need to encourage people to attend meetings. Attendance will be taken so e-mails can be sent out to remind people who miss often about dates of meetings. She asked that people consider hosting a meeting in the fall if possible. The sign up for the St. Patricks Day Party was sent around. Officer nominations are due soon.
Julie reminded that the new member meeting is March 2, 2011 at Kelly Bodners house. Julie mentioned that a host is still needed for the new member orientation meeting in April.
Guest Speaker:
Child Life specialist, Sephanie Waning, spoke about her role at Riley and the use of the iPads they have received. They show patients videos of procedures, so the children know what to expect. They are also used to play games to distract patients. They have been very useful. There are 26 iPads in use at the moment.
Grants:
Kathy Ackerman mentioned that we have enough money to fund all the grants. This is due to the fact that the Prom does not need as big a grant as originally expected because of the proceeds from the Halloween Howl and a $5,000 donation. All grants were explained. All grants meet the Riley requirements. After a few questions and discussion all grants were funded. There was a general thought that there would be a need for a grant committee in the future.
Membership:
Kelly Bodner reminded everyone to please turn in names and addresses for the invitation list to Sally. The new members meeting is at Kelly’s house on May 2, 2011. The May luncheon at Meridian Hills will include new members.
Prom Committee:
Melinda Heim talked about the clothing drive for the prom. Jane Salentine is clothing chair and will pick up any donations. Drop off is also in Zionsville at the Boone Village UPS store. Invitations are still being designed and will be sent out soon. Clothes will again be dry cleaned by Fabric Care, so donations do not have to be dry cleaned. Promingdales is April 14-15. Volunteers are needed for set-up and tear down of Prom. Nail techs are needed for the spa. Ann Rogers and Tracey Brown are securing décor, Levy’s will be catering again this year. Shelby Anderson is working on goody bags. Charlotte Lewis will contact Changing Footprints about shoes. Clothing drive will run through the end of February.
