3 Indiana Universities Receive Awards at National Dance Marathon Conference

Three Indiana Universities Win Dance Marathon Awards

Determination is in the motto “FTK” (“For The Kids”) used by Riley Dance Marathon participants at more than 60 high schools, colleges and universities statewide. Indiana University Dance Marathon, Purdue University Dance Marathon and Ball State University Dance Marathon each won awards at the 14th Annual National Dance Marathon Leadership Conference in Chicago last month for their support of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health.

Indiana University Dance Marathon (IUDM) and Purdue University Dance Marathon (PUDM) both received “2013-2014 Miracle Maker Awards” for their fundraising growth in the 2013-2014 school year. IUDM increased their fundraising total from $2.1 million in 2012 to $2.6 million in 2013. PUDM increased their fundraising total from $528,000 in 2012 to $1 million in 2013.

Ball State University Dance Marathon received the “2013-2014 Best Morale Dance” award. Morale dances occur at every dance marathon around the country, serving as a theme throughout the duration of a marathon. At the national conference 19 colleges and universities performed two minute segments from their morale dance. Ball State University Dance Marathon won.

Riley Dance Marathons – the fastest-growing fundraising program for Riley Children’s Foundation – raised a record $4.6 million in 2013-2014, 29 percent of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ (CMN) dance marathon total nationwide (255 Dance Marathons raised $15.6 million nationwide for CMN).
