Kohl’s Donates $254,248 to Riley Hospital for Children
Kohl's has donated $254,248.00 to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health to provide ongoing support for Kohl’s Caring For Our Kids. The Riley Children’s Foundation program focuses on preventing child abuse and neglect and promoting positive parenting skills. One hundred thousand incidents of child abuse or neglect are reported every year in Indiana.
Riley Hospital patients, Dr. Roberta Hibbard (director of child protection programs at Riley Hospital for Children), Dr. Fred Rescorla, and Dr. Shannon Thompson appear in public service announcements airing throughout Central Indiana. The PSAs stress the importance of calling 911 or the Child Abuse Hotline if you know or suspect a child is in danger.
“Kohl’s Caring For Our Kids serves a vital role in the best interest of children,” said Dr. Hibbard. “Increasing awareness of these efforts is paramount. To prevent child abuse and neglect, we must expose its terrible truths. It hits close to home for all of us, whether we’re aware of it or not. Together, we can reduce the number of children who suffer due to abuse, neglect or accidental injury.”
Kohl's commitment to Riley Hospital is made possible through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys, where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised nearly $300 million through this merchandise program. Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $5 million to Riley Children’s Foundation and its initiatives.
