Largest Corporate Funder of Riley Hospital for Children Announces Gift

In a display of incredible generosity, customers, vendor partners, and associates of Speedway LLC (Speedway) raised an impressive amount of money in 2015 in support of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health: $1,901,376.01.

Funds raised support these programs:

  • Camp Riley, a summer camp for kids with physical disabilities located at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Ind. Speedway supports the Comfort Station, where campers can rest, relax and transition to the next activity in a calm and safe environment.
  • The Speedway Burn Unit at Riley Hospital, the only pediatric burn unit in Indiana.
  • The Bear in the Chair program, designed to help eliminate feelings of loneliness by maintaining a connection between children being treated at Riley and their school. A huge fuzzy teddy bear sits in the empty classroom seat of the Riley patient until their return back to the classroom. This program is fully funded by Speedway associates.

“Without strong corporate partners like Speedway, Riley Hospital simply couldn’t do what it does,” says Russ Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Riley Hospital. “The programs they support are unique to Riley. Children across the state have access to world-class resources when they are at their most vulnerable.”

Speedway has been a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals partner for 25 years, and Riley Hospital is Indiana’s only CMN Hospitals partner. As Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s research hospital, Riley Hospital and Speedway form a strong partnership in raising funds and awareness in the treatment of childhood health issues and diseases.

“It is quite an honor to be part of a company that supports such a great organization,” commented Speedway President Tony Kenney. “We are proud of the 25 years we have been able to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It is because of our very generous customers, dedicated employees, and vendor partners truly caring about making a difference in the lives of others that makes our fundraising a success. It’s also very rewarding to know that, as Speedway grows, so does our ability to support Riley Hospital for Children through CMN Hospitals.”

The customers who come to Speedway for their fuel and convenience needs as well as Speedway associates are helping to deliver exceptional care by Riley physicians to Indiana children in all 92 counties.
