Promingdale’s kicks off “Treasures of the Sea” for 2017 Riley Cancer Center Family Prom

This Thursday and Friday April 20 and 21, over 1,000 donated dresses, tuxedos, shoes, purses, jewelry and other accessories will line the shelves of the imaginative boutique known as Promingdale’s sponsored by PwC. Promingdale’s is a two-day experience where cancer patients from Riley Hospital for Children, and their families, can be outfitted with everything they need to arrive at the annual Riley Cancer Center Family Prom in style.

Women for Riley, a group of donors dedicated to supporting the missions of Riley Children’s Foundation and Riley Hospital, orchestrate the event.

The event will be bustling: Personalized shoppers will help approximately 150 Riley Cancer Center patients and family members choose their dream outfits for the special occasion. Patients will also vote for the Prom King and Queen among the Riley Cancer Center staff.
Promingdale’s and Riley Cancer Center Family Prom were created for children with cancer within 12 months of treatment. The events have become highly anticipated for patients, siblings, parents and staff alike.
Approximately 100 Women for Riley members donate their time and money towards projects at Riley Hospital, with priorities focused on Riley Cancer Center Family Prom and funding grants for Indiana’s only nationally ranked and comprehensive children’s hospital.
Each year, the vast majority of children diagnosed with cancer in Indiana turn to Riley Hospital for their treatment. Riley sees 200 new patients and 350 ongoing patients annually.
