Speedway LLC donates nearly $2 million to Riley Hospital

In a display of incredible generosity, customers, vendor partners, and associates of Speedway LLC (Speedway) raised nearly $2 million in 2016 in support of Riley Hospital for Children.

These funds will support:

  • Riley Children’s Foundation funding priorities: Pediatric research and patient care, Maternity and newborn health, Family support programs
  • The Bear in the Chair program, designed to help eliminate feelings of loneliness by maintaining a connection between children being treated at Riley and their school. A huge fuzzy teddy bear sits in the empty classroom seat of the Riley patient until their return back to the classroom. This program is fully funded by Speedway store associates.

“Without strong corporate partners like Speedway, Riley Hospital simply couldn’t do what it does,” says Jim Austin, chief marketing and corporate partnerships officer at Riley Children’s Foundation. “The programs they support are unique to Riley. Children across the state have access to world-class resources when they are at their most vulnerable.”

Speedway has been a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals partner for 26 years, and Riley Hospital is Indiana’s only CMN Hospitals partner. As Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s research hospital, Riley Hospital and Speedway form a strong partnership in raising funds and awareness in the treatment of childhood health issues and diseases.

“It is quite an honor to be part of a company that supports such a great organization,” commented Speedway President Tony Kenney. “I am proud of the 26 years Speedway has been associated with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Our generous customers, vendor partners and dedicated employees truly care about making a difference in the lives of others and especially for the children. It’s also very rewarding to know that, as Speedway grows, so does our ability to support Riley Hospital for Children through CMN Hospitals.”

The customers who come to Speedway for their fuel and convenience needs as well as Speedway associates are helping to deliver exceptional care by Riley physicians to Indiana children in all 92 counties.
