InspireDM - Celebrating Hope

Patty and Evan Meade, Franklin, Ind.

Since becoming part of the Riley Family in 2010, our family has been very blessed with the care we have received while at the hospital. Many times we are asked, “How do you do it, going into the hospital and seeing the sick children?” My response to those individuals is this: “Riley has a saying – Hope Happens Here, and it truly does. When walking the halls of Riley you can’t help but look at the eyes of the children and feel INSPIRED.”

Then, memories of Riley flash back in my mind – staying with my son Evan during his treatment in the cancer unit after his leukemia diagnosis in 2010; clinic visits in the Riley Outpatient Center; coming into the hospital to volunteer or visit other patients. A sense of warmth fills me up, and an infectious smile comes across my face.  Yes ― simply INSPIRED.

After Evan completed his cancer battle at Riley, our family stayed involved with the hospital’s fundraising arm, Riley Children’s Foundation. We have had many exciting opportunities to share his story and raise funds to support Riley Hospital, including Evan’s unforgettable year as a Riley Champion in 2012. Over the years we have met some amazing Riley families, and we have become family. Because we were so INSPIRED by many of the stories of the children we have met, our family wanted to create an event where the families could meet for an evening of fun while supporting Riley Hospital for Children – the hospital we all love and call our second home. With input from several families and alumni from Ball State Dance Marathon, we have created INSPIRE Dance Marathon.

Inspire Dance Marathon will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Indianapolis Colts Complex from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Families and other Riley supporters can form teams and fundraise for the event in advance. Speakers at the event will share how Riley has helped their lives. All the money we raise will support the Patient and Family Centered Care Program at Riley Hospital.

You can learn more, start a team, join up a team, or sign up as an individual by clicking here.

The sky is the limit! We are so excited and INSPIRED to give back to Riley through this special new event, which is For the Kids, and by the kids of Riley.
