Mugdha Naik's Painting

Since childhood I have been interested in art and crafts. I love learning new techniques, and often give my art work to friends and family.

When I got pregnant, I wanted to do something special—something that I would remember and cherish. I thought, “My child is born to fortunate parents who can take care of her, but there are many kids who are unfortunate—let's help the kids who need the money.”

I decided to do a garage sale to sell my paintings. My target was to paint 20 paintings while I was pregnant. I posted each one on a Facebook page, "Paintings by Mugdha." I was getting overwhelming response. That triggered me to improve, and also do an art exhibit instead of a garage sale.

I got great response at the exhibit and was blessed to sell almost all my work. It was great. Typically I donate to Asha for Education (for kids based in India), but I also feel responsible to the community here. I decided to donate to Riley Hospital after a friend’s recommendation.

I feel blessed to be able to help kids. They are our future, and we need to think about kids around the world and how we can help them.

My husband and I now have a 3-month-old daughter named Kaeya Patil. She is the joy of our lives. We look forward to imparting her with values that will make her strong and help her add value to others’ lives.
