I work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) at Riley, and it is amazing. I love taking care of the kids and interacting with their families. Working in the ICU can be very tough, but it is rewarding to be able to support the Riley kiddos and their families during their time of greatest need. Kids are so strong, courageous, and resilient, and I am so blessed to care for them. I also have wonderful coworkers who make my job even better.

I am very excited to be running for Team Riley at the 500 Festival Mini Marathon. I was already registered to run the Mini (my third Mini and tenth half marathon) when I heard about Team Riley from the mother of a former patient. She is also running as a part of the Team. I thought it was a great idea and a way to combine my love of both Riley and running!

As a member of Team Riley, I have been raising money for the Riley Children's Foundation for the past several months. I have chronicled my training and fundraising efforts online and have received very generous support in response. My original goal was to raise $500, but I have been blown away by the response and have raised $800 to date!

There is still time to donate by going to my personal fundraising page: No dollar amount is too small, and every penny goes towards helping the amazing kiddos at Riley!

Running for a purpose really motivates me. Running can be very tough and tedious, but knowing that it is serving a bigger purpose really helps push me forward to the finish line. I am also involved in the group I Run 4, a group that pairs runners with adults and children with special needs. My buddy is 4-year-old Anthony, who has cerebral palsy. He cannot run (yet!) so I run for him! Knowing that I am working hard for him and for the kids at Riley really helps keep me moving when my mind and body are telling me to quit!

If you are interested in getting involved in supporting Riley Hospital for Children, I encourage you to go for it! There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that you are helping to support Riley kids and their families.
